Thank you for your interest in our scholarship program, offered in partnership with the New York Credit Union Association (NYCUA). Utica Gas & Electric FCU is proud to participate in this statewide initiative, which provides eligible students with the opportunity to earn scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,500 for the 2026 academic year. Through this application, you will be considered for one of two $1,500 credit union awards as well as statewide scholarships. This program reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education and helping them achieve their academic goals.
The program has an immense impact on college-bound students across New York State. In 2025, the NYCUA awarded $32,250 in scholarships to 50 talented students across the state. The initiative reflects the credit union's core philosophy of community engagement and empowerment.
Please review the following instructions carefully before completing your application.
Note: You must be a member of a participating New York Credit Union to apply for a college scholarship through this program. If you are not currently a member, please call us at 315-733-1596, option 0 to learn how to join.
Completing the Application Form: Fill out the scholarship application form, using only the space provided for your responses. Other than where specified on the application form, no attachments, resumes, pictures or other materials of any kind should be submitted or used to answer the questions.
Certification and Release Authorization: Both you and your parent or guardian must sign the Certification and Release Authorization on the final page of the application form.
Credit Union Verification Code: Please call 315-733-1596 option 0 to request our verification code.
Application Submission: Your completed application should be submitted online via the NYCUA Scholarship Portal by January 9, 2026. Along with your application, please upload:
A high school transcript documenting your GPA for grades 9-11
Your essay response

SCAM ALERT: Be aware that some members and non-members are seeing an increase in scammers impersonating UGEFCU. We will never contact you directly asking you to click on a link or verify information such as your card number, your PIN, or CVV code on the back of your debit or credit card. If you're suspicious of a call or message, do not engage and contact UGEFCU directly.
Please contact the credit union if you believe you have been a victim of fraud.
Reminder - our mobile app will allow notifications sent to your phone anytime your debit and/or credit card is used for a purchase. You can also turn your card on/off. Please contact our credit union if you have questions 315-733-1596. Any one of our service representatives can help you with these features.
